Cuban Macaw

I don't really have much else to add about these extinct birds. They were endemic to Cuba and Isla de la Juventud. They were about 20 inches long and nested in hollow trees. They may have been around until approximately 1885. There are still 19 "skins" of theirs left in different collections.

I finished this quite a while ago. I simply haven't been able to upload things. Life has been so incredibly chaotic that my art has mostly needed to take a back seat. I actually have another 2 paintings I have finished since I started this painting though, I will share those next post. I am going to try keeping up with this better. Because I am not painting an animal every day though, it won't be as reliable as it once was. The paintings I am doing now are 12"x18" in comparison to the 4"x6" I had been doing before.
